TROUBLESHOOTING: NETPRINT ERROR 877
Problem: NetPrint on a HP-3000 server fails with Error 877, “Network printer or target system is unavailable.”
The most common reason for this error is that the request was blocked by the firewall.
Solution: Open port 1570 so that NetPrint can connect to network printers.
Also, if you are connecting to a Windows server, make sure you have completed the following steps:
- Turn on the LPD and Print Server services. If these services are not installed, open the Control Panel > Features > Print and Document Services > Role Services, select LPD Service and Printer Server, and install these services. After installation completes, refresh the Services window, and verify these services are running.
- Configure your virtual printer as documented in https://www.minisoft.com/support/index.php/configuring-the-eformz-port-monitor/. You must share the printer for other systems to print to it. To share the printer, open the Printer Properties > Sharing tab and click Share this printer.
