Features and Enhancements 

March 9, 2006 - eFORMz 6.5 Enhancements

Minisoft is proud to announce the following new enhancements:

Release 6.5.2

 A new pre-processor interface has been added to intercept incoming data requiring special modifications prior to the merge with a form. This release includes three pre-processor modules:

• Skip until a string is found

• Replace a string value with a different value

• Command parsing

A new ‘page number’ system variable

• Users will now have the ability to add and/or increment page/check numbers specifying a fixed starting value. One can also automatically increment this value referencing an external count file.

Added an Insert Rule selection to the pop-up menu of the form/data viewer

• Especially useful for quick entry of pre-defined Variables (ie: page numbers, dates, etc,), Constants and Input Fields (form fill-in).

Release 6.5.1

New DATABASE LOOKUP functionality

• Provide database retrieval from a table/key query with connectivity directly from the Composer.

• Works with MS Access, MYSQL, MS SQL and Oracle databases.

 The local monitor can now be run on the Unix platform without requesting a prompt to stop the task. Can be schedule to run in the background or as a daemon process.

Additional modification have been made to pdf output so as to match more closely with that of printed output.

New FORMS FILL-IN feature

• In an effort to provide a method by which vendors and customers can reply back using documents produced by eFORMz, we've added a new feature which allows one to generate forms with 'fill-in' elements. In doing so, the recipient of the PDF file <or> eFORMz document file (.efd ) will be able to fill predefined
  fields for return correspondence. 
  
  The following 'fill-in' elements can be easily added to an existing form(s) from within the eFORMz Composer.

• { Check Box / Combo Box / List Box / Push Button / Radio Button group / Text Area / Text Box }
  
  Although output can be generated to PDF and read by Adobe's Reader, the full version of Adobe's Acrobat Professional is required to save these fill-in changes back to disk. The good news is that Minisoft has developed our own document reader ( eReader ) which can be downloaded (at no charge) from our website to view, edit and save the files generated.

One can now generate output filie names using the same name as their input file using a set of pre-defined variables.

Formatting Enhancements

Data Capturing 

• Assign variables to selected ranges of data to allow unlimited actions.
        -Actions (MOVE / COPY / BARCODE / FONT …) 
   

• Assign Conditions (=, ?, <, >, STARTS WITH, ENDS WITH, CONTAINS …) to perform comparisons.

Enhanced Data Parsing 

• Ignore and process vast numbers of control codes such as embedded fonts, barcodes, margin settings, form feeds, etc.

Announcing our New add-on Module eVUE
 

eVUE will allow you to archive merged XML generated reports from eFORMz.

• Archiving utility using eFORMz output

• Provides permanent record of documentation added
    Capabilities Include:
           Viewing report pages
           Reprinting report pages
           Email

• Perform document searches based on pre-selected data (tags)

• Data tags can be exported to Microsoft Excel or an ASCII file
     for further processing

• All of this via a web browser, no client software necessary

Also:

• Documents organized into a folder structure
  

•  Access to folders/documents by user name/groups (roles)
